Banana Boat Productions and Caribbean-American Repertory Theatre present:
My Children! My Africa! by Athol Fugard. Directed by E. Wayne McDonald, with Corrie Beula, Edwin Briscoe and Rudolph Shaw. The play centers around the relationship between an old-fashioned South African teacher, his favorite young male student, and a white female South African student who comes to their school for a debate in Apartheid-era South Africa. Their ongoing meetings expose both the opportunities and barriers to communication in the context of race relations, the power of political movements, and personal conflicts about the way in which necessary changes should be achieved. This profoundly moving theatrical performance stimulates much debate and heartfelt introspection. |
